Lightning evening: A pre-Christmas event where moves must be made when the buzzer sounds every 10 seconds! 2025 winners - Oliver Stubbs and Indy Southcott-Moyers

Rapid-play Swiss: A Swiss tournament is one in which in each round players are paired with those on the same or similar scores in the tournament. Time control is 20 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move. 2026 winner: Mike Ashworth

Peter Harrison Trophy: A knock-out cup played in several rounds over the season to handicap rules of bewildering complexity. 2025-26 winners - Wotton Hall

North Glos Individual: A Swiss tournament played over several rounds to normal league time controls, finishing in the Spring. 2025-26 winner: Zack Norris
