Club Rapid-Play: An all-play-all handicap competition at a 30-minute time control running through the whole season. 2023-24 winner - David Horton

Chess 960: An informal two-round Swiss playing with the Chess 960/Fischer-Random system. 2025 winner - Graeme Hood

Lightning evening: A pre-Christmas event where moves must be made when the buzzer sounds every 10 seconds! 2024 winners - David Buckley and Indy Soutcott-Moyers

Rapid-play Swiss: A Swiss tournament is one in which in each round players are paired with those on the same or similar scores in the tournament. Time control is 20 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move. 2025 winner: Mike Ashworth

Peter Harrison Trophy: A knock-out cup played in several rounds over the season to handicap rules of bewildering complexity. 2024-25 winners - Gloucester

North Glos Individual: A Swiss tournament played over several rounds to normal league time controls, finishing in the Spring. 2024-25 winners: Mike Ashworth and Ian Robson
