About us

Cheltenham Chess Club is an informal group of local people who love the game of chess. We currently have five teams in the North Gloucestershire chess league, and there are lots of opportunities for casual play and friendly competitions. Club members must join the English Chess Federation at least at Bronze level if you want to participate in league play or events. ECF provides a regular newsletter and gives provisional and (after 10 rated games) full ratings for both classical and rapid play chess.

The North Gloucestershire Chess Association is our county organisation which runs all the leagues the club plays in and a number of other events. Their website has the league rules, full fixtures and other information.
